Transfer to Secondary Education – September 2019

The closing date for the submission of applications is midnight on Wednesday 31 October 2018.

Transfer information for all Year 6 pupils will be distributed during the week commencing 3 September 2018.

Parents will receive a leaflet summarising the application process and encouraging them to make their application online. Applications open on 10 September 2018.

The timescale for the September 2019 transfer process is available on SchoolsNet.

The following information can be viewed at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions

  • Applying for your child’s secondary school place 2019-20 – a summary
  • How to apply for a place at Secondary School – a guide for parents. This document contains full information on the application process.

We prefer parents to apply online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions.  For those parents without access to the internet, they can apply by phone by ringing Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190.

We are pleased that in recent years 99.9% of parents applied using these facilities. It would be appreciated if you would publicise these facilities at your open evenings and if possible consider offering parents the use of your computers to enable them to access the online services.

Parents who prefer to complete a paper application can obtain one from the Admissions and Transport Team by emailing admissions.transport@derbyshire.gov.uk  or by ringing 01629 537499.

Parents of children with special educational needs are advised that the transfer of their child is dealt with via the annual review and an individual letter will be sent for you to give to parents. They are required to complete a SEN preference form which should be returned direct to the SEN Section at County Hall (a pre-paid envelope is enclosed for parental use).

Direct enquiries from parents will be refered to the Admissions and Transport Team on 01629 537479

If parents wish to access independent advice or information on school admissions they can contact the Children’s Legal Centre at www.childrenslegalcentre.com or call the advice line on 0300 330 5485.
